چکیده

Pinned solitons are a special class of nonlinear solutions created by supersonically moving object in fluid. They move with the same velocity as and thereby remain pinned to object. A well known hydrodynamical phenomenon, they have been shown exist numerical simulation studies but date not observed experimentally plasma. In this paper we report first experimental excitation dusty (complex) plasma flowing over charged obstacle. The experiments performed {\Pi} shaped Dusty Plasma Experimental (DPEx) device which is background DC glow discharge Ar using micron sized kaolin dust particles. biased copper wire creates potential structure that acts stationary fluid made flow at highly supersonic speed. Under appropriate conditions structures laboratory frame correspond speed obstacle systematic study propagation characteristics these carefully tuning changing height structure. It found nature changes from single humped one multi-humped their amplitudes increase an findings then qualitatively compared model forced Korteweg de Vries (fKdV) equation.

DNLS Solitons in Collisional Dusty Plasma

Alfven waves are possible sources of turbulence in the interstellar medium. These waves are responsible for the transport of angular momentum and energy in the accretion discs. Such waves have been studied for last several decades in space plasmas. Most of the space plasmas are dusty. They contain charged grains and coupling of the grains to the magnetic field determines the wave propagation in...

Flowing dusty plasma experiments: generation of flow and measurement techniques

A variety of experimental techniques for the generation of subsonic/supersonic dust fluid flows and means of measuring such flow velocities are presented. The experiments have been carried out in a Π-shaped dusty plasma experimental device with micron size kaolin/ melamine formaldehyde particles embedded in a background of argon plasma created by a direct current glow discharge. A stationary du...

Experimental study of shock formation in a dusty plasma

If a large amplitude density pulse is launched into a plasma having equal electron and ion temperatures, Te 5Ti , Landau damping prevents the formation of a sharp leading edge ~‘‘shock’’! and the pulse spreads out. If the Landau damping is eliminated, the pulse steepens as it propagates and a shock structure is formed. This has been observed experimentally, for example, by increasing the Te /Ti...

Experimental observation of oscillating and interacting matter wave dark solitons.

We report on the generation, subsequent oscillation and interaction of a pair of matter-wave dark solitons. These are created by releasing a Bose-Einstein condensate from a double well potential into a harmonic trap in the crossover regime between one dimension and three dimensions. Multiple oscillations and collisions of the solitons are observed, in quantitative agreement with simulations of ...
